Picasa Name Tagging

Why oh why is the Nickname field mandatory in Picasa?? It makes no sense whatsoever as it is not mandatory in any other Google product, or mac product, or windows product, or indeed in life!

What is particularly annoying is Picasa's insistence on auto filling the nickname tag with the first part of someone's title. When the contact's name is Dr Arnold Mcstupid, as it auto fills the nickname field with 'Dr'. What the...
